Maebel is 11 years old and lives in a rural area of northern Ethiopia, 1,000km from the capital, Addis Ababa. Most people are farmers, but land degradation has made it hard to grow enough food. A lack of health knowledge and a shortage of health facilities and medicines lead to poor maternal and child health. Education quality is low due to poor facilities and a lack of teacher training. Some children drop out of school early so they can work to support their families.
Our monthly sponsorship helps to improve Maebel’s life by enhancing his nutrition, giving him access to better sanitation, medical care and protection against infection & disease, access to clean drinking water, and quality education for a better start in life.
